Afrobeats superstar Davido has come under criticism on social media following his absence from the wedding ceremony of music executive and businessman Soso Soberekon.
Soso Soberekon tied the knot during a ceremony held last weekend in Warri, Delta State, with several celebrities, friends, and associates in attendance.
However, Davido’s absence from the event quickly became a topic of discussion online, as many fans noted that the singer neither attended the ceremony nor publicly congratulated the newlyweds on his social media platforms.
Instead, the award-winning artiste shared updates about his trip to Dubai with members of his team and also made posts relating to the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.
The development sparked mixed reactions across social media, with some users expressing disappointment over what they described as Davido’s failure to acknowledge someone they believe has supported him over the years.
Among those who criticized the singer was comedian DeeOne, who argued that Davido should have made efforts to attend the ceremony or at least send a congratulatory message to the couple.
He alleged that Soberekon had played significant roles in Davido’s career and questioned why neither the singer nor any member of his team represented him at the event.
Similarly, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, expressed disappointment over the absence of both Davido and his wife, Chioma, at the wedding. In a post on Instagram, he stated that Soberekon had done a great deal for the singer over the years and deserved recognition on his special day.
Several other social media users also questioned Davido’s decision not to attend the event, while others suggested he could have at least extended public congratulations to the couple.
Despite the criticism, many fans came to the singer’s defense, arguing that he may have been outside the country or occupied with professional commitments that prevented him from attending the wedding.
